There’s nothing worse than gaming with your friends and having your voice chats interrupted mid-game. If you’re experiencing Discord not working on Xbox, failing to transfer the voice chat, relink errors, or encountering other problems while trying to pair Discord with your Xbox account, don’t worry. There are several fixes you could try to get rid of the problem.
1. Relink Discord and Xbox Accounts
If you cannot link your Discord account with the Xbox console, the first thing to try is to unlink and then relink the accounts. You can do this on your PC or mobile phone app. The steps are the same. Start by removing your Xbox account from your Discord app.
On the Desktop:
- Select the gear icon to access Settings. It’s located at the bottom left corner of the app, next to your profile picture.
- Once in the User Settings screen, select Connections from the left side menu.
- Find your Xbox account and press the X button next to your account name.
- When the confirmation prompt shows up, select Disconnect.
Unlinking Xbox and Discord accounts on the mobile app is very similar:
- Open the Discord app on your smartphone and select the You tab in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Select Settings by tapping the gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Find and tap Connections in the next menu.
- Tap the X button next to your Xbox account name.
- Select Disconnect when prompted.
Unfortunately, unlinking from the Discord app is not enough. You’ll have to unlink from your Xbox settings before relinking the accounts, but this is easy to do.
- Press the X button on your Xbox controller and scroll to your profile picture. Then, select Settings from the menu.
- From the Settings menu, choose Account, and then Linked Social Accounts from the right menu panel.
- Find Discord, and select the Unlink option under it.
- Wait for your Xbox to break the connection with Discord. It’ll take only a moment.
You can relink your Xbox and Discord accounts again and see if this solves the issue. You can do it from Xbox:
- While in the Linked Accounts menu, select the Link option under the Discord icon
- This will prompt you to Sign into your Discord account on the web. After you sign in, a Microsoft Edge page will pop up asking for different permissions you must approve for Discord. Select Accept.
- Wait a moment while Xbox and Discord are connecting.
That’s it: You successfully reconnected your Xbox and Discord accounts.
2. Relink from the Discord App
If relinking your Xbox and Discord accounts from the Xbox didn’t solve the connectivity issue, try relinking the account from the Discord app. It can be done on both desktop PCs and mobile phones. Here’s how:
- Open your Discord app and navigate to Settings. Once there, select Connections from the menu.
- In the Add accounts to your profile section, find and click the Xbox icon.
- Select Continue when prompted.
- When Step 1 of 2 prompts, select Continue again. This will take you to the Microsoft page, where you’ll need to log in with your Microsoft account.
- Once signed in, select Authorize and Continue to give Discord and Xbox-specific permissions.
After performing the final step, your Xbox and Discord accounts should be linked again. See if this solves the problem of Discord not working correctly on the Xbox console.
3. Relog to Both Your Discord and Xbox Accounts.
If your Xbox and Discord accounts won’t relink successfully, you should try logging into both accounts separately.
Simply logging out and back in from the Xbox and Discord apps can fix many underlying bugs that can create problems with the two apps and accounts. Make sure to use the correct credentials when logging back in.
4. Power Cycle Your Console
If you’re having trouble transferring voice chat from Discord to your Xbox, power cycling your console should resolve this issue. It might even help you fix the problems with linking the two accounts. Powercycling Xbox is known to help with various issues and bugs you might be experiencing, so give it a try.
- Locate the Xbox button at the front of the console, press and hold it for about 10 seconds to shut down your console.
- Remove the power cable from the wall outlet and the back of your console, and keep it out for at least a minute.
- Plug the cable into the back of the console and into the outlet, and then press the Xbox button to turn it on. You can either press this button on the console itself or on the Xbox controller.
- Try linking the accounts again and transferring Discord voice chat to Xbox.
5. Clear Alternate MAC Address
If you still can’t link Discord with the Xbox account, or the voice chat won’t transfer even if the accounts are linked, you might be experiencing network connection issues. Try to clear the MAC Address of your console to resolve the issue. Just follow these steps:
- Go to Settings on your Xbox.
- Select General from the left menu panel and then Network Settings from the right side menu.
- On the next screen, choose Advanced Settings.
- Go to Change Settings and pick Alternate MAC address.
- Finally, select Clear.
- Restart the console and try linking Discord and Xbox accounts to see if this fixed the issue.
6. Enable Remote Features on Xbox
The Remote Features must be enabled on your Xbox to use the voice chat transfer feature. Remote Feature lets you control downloaded apps and games from the Xbox on your smartphone. Typically, the Remote Features are always enabled, but you could have accidentally disabled them in the past. If you need to re-enable them, here’s how:
- Open the Xbox Settings and select Device & Connections.
- Select Remote Features.
- Make sure that the box next to the Enable remote features is checked. That means it’s enabled.
Once you successfully enable the remote features, reconnect your Xbox console to the mobile app and try transferring voice chat from Discord.
Remember, a quick check or adjustment can often get you back to chatting with friends in no time. If all else fails, a fresh app reinstall might do the trick. We hope these tips help you get Discord running smoothly again on your Xbox. Happy gaming!
