Stardew Valley is one of the most popular RPGs out there, and it’s proven by the game’s presence on all sorts of platforms. Whether you’re an Xbox, PlayStation, or PC gamer, the chances are you can run Stardew Valley. However, is the game cross-platform on Xbox and PC? Can you carry progress over between these platforms, for a seamless farming experience? We’ve got the lowdown!
Stardew Valley Cross-Platform | Is It Available On Xbox and PC?
Quite disappointingly, Stardew Valley is not cross-platform on Xbox and PC. That means players aren’t able to carry progress over if they switch devices. They also can’t check out their friends’ farms for an extra bit of fun.
Yes, it seems that as of right now, Stardew Valley save progress is firmly locked to the device you’re playing on. That means people starting on Xbox don’t have the means to transport their save onto PC. It’s certainly a shame as the game’s ubiquity on a range of platforms makes it perfect for the cross-save experience. Nonetheless, it performs very much like most titles, where save data is locked to your current means of playing.
Equally, Stardew Valley‘s multiplayer segment is also locked to one platform. It lets you visit other players’ worlds and interact together, but that’s without cross-platform functionality. It’ll certainly come as bad news to players with friends on other consoles, who are sadly unable to make it a more social experience.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that Stardew Valley cross-platform functionality between Xbox and PC won’t arrive in the future. All we can do is hope, but as the developer ConcernedApe moves onto its next game, Haunted Chocolatier, the chances are looking slim.
Stardew Valley could remain a single-platform experience, which may be a tough pill for social gamers to swallow.
