Sea of Thieves | Can You Summon The Kraken?
Sea of Thieves | Can You Summon The Kraken? preview

There are plenty of seaworthy adversaries in Sea of Thieves, from low-level pirate ships to the massive and imposing Megaladon. But one enemy stands above the rest: the fearsome Kraken. It’s a tough, tentacled beast whose only goal is to drag you and your ship down to a watery grave. However, it is extremely elusive. Is it possible to summon the Kraken? Or will you have to brave the seas in search of this legendary beast?

Can You Summon The Kraken in Sea of Thieves?

Can You Summon The Kraken in Sea of Thieves?

Unfortunately, you cannot summon the Kraken in Sea of Thieves. That’s because the Kraken was designed to be a random encounter. To encounter it, you’ll have to go about looking for it on your own, without help from any mechanic in the game.

So, how do you find the Kraken? Well, it’s actually quite simple. All you need to do is sail around the Sea of Thieves. Since the encounter with the Kraken is random, you’ll have to keep your eyes open to spot it. Thankfully, when it does appear, you won’t have trouble noticing. The Kraken will cause the water to turn dark, making it impossible to see underneath the waves. If you happen to sail the ship into its path, your ship will stop, and the tentacles of the Kraken will rise out of the water, beginning a fight of life or death.

It will put up a tough fight. Frankly, it’s going to take your whole crew to stop this beast from ruining your ship. The first thing you should do is have someone on repairs to fix the ship as the Kraken attacks. Each tentacle treated as a separate entity, so you’ll have to defeat all eight if you hope to take out the beast for now.

Each tentacle will either try to grab a player with its mouth on the tip or slam into the ship to deal damage. You’ll have to shoot them with cannonballs to damage them. That is, unless they wrap around the ship; in that case, you can use your sword to release the Kraken’s grip on your vessel.

Once all tentacles are defeated, the person who lands the killing blow will receive an achievement. So, if the whole crew wants the achievement, you’ll have to keep sailing to find another Kraken.
