There are loads of great first-person shooters and lore-rich RPGS on Xbox, but sometimes you want to play nonviolent Xbox games — or something that makes you laugh. We’ve rounded up 11 top comedy and funny games on Xbox One that you should play when you need something lighter.
1. Goat Simulator
Kicking off our list is an oldie but a goodie. Ever wanted to be a goat? With Goat Simulator you can live out all your goat dreams while causing untold destruction. The whole point is to destroy things while pulling off cool stunts like backflips and earning as many points as you can. Some of the bugs in the game are hilarious too, especially the physics ones.
2. Cult of the Lamb
From goats to cult leaders — if you dream of leading your flock, then Cult of the Lamb is the ultimate cute, funny game on Xbox One. With adorably dark graphics and addictive gameplay, it’s one of the best funny games on Xbox One. Start your own cult and spread the word to influence and recruit non-believers as you explore, defeat rival cult leaders, collect resources to build structures, and carry out mystic rituals.
3. Manual Samuel
If you’re looking for funny multiplayer games on Xbox One, Manual Samuel is hard to beat. The game’s a few years old now, but it’s still a classic. Samuel makes a deal with death and has to control his body manually for 24 hours. That means you — and a friend — are each in control of various bodily functions, from blinking, walking, and breathing to going to work and driving. This game is hysterical, and the gameplay can get quite manic, so prepare yourself!
4. It Takes Two
When humans Cody and May are transformed into dolls, they must work together and rebuild their damaged relationship to escape a fantastical world filled with challenges and dangers around every corner. There are many hilarious moments, but the story is heartfelt, and the variety of challenges you’ll encounter makes this a really fun game to play with a friend.
5. Human Fall Flat
Solving a bunch of physics-based puzzles with your friends? Sounds pretty good to us. This amusing platformer with puzzle elements can be played solo or with up to eight friends and supports crossplay on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows 10. There’s a sequel too, once you’ve cracked the first game.
6. 60 Parsecs!
This single-player dark comedy sci-fi adventure is a fast, frantic, fun little game. You’ve got 60 seconds before your space station explodes, and it’s up to you to grab your fellow astronauts and belongings and get to the emergency shuttle in time. Cartoon graphics and a deeper level of strategy and resource planning ensure plenty of longevity in this game.
7. Ultimate Chicken Horse
With local and online multiplayer as well as split screen, Ultimate Chicken Horse is the ultimate party platformer to play with friends. With its cute cartoon art style and funky soundtrack, you can play as a horse, chicken, or a whole range of other animals. Build your levels and hide deadly traps to defeat your friends along the way across a range of locations from the Farm to the Pyramids. Creating your own obstacle course has never been so much fun!
8. Trover Saves the Universe
Though Trover Saves the Universe doesn’t have any official ties to Rick and Morty, the game has some great Easter eggs. Packed with comedy, this part-platformer, part-puzzle game is a bizarre, hilarious single-player adventure where you must save the universe after a lunatic dognaps your dogs and uses their life essence to try and destroy the universe.
9. The Procession to Calvary
If it’s hilarity you’re after, this has to be one of the best funny games on Xbox One. The Procession to Calvary looks like no other game out there — in fact, it bears more resemblance to a collage of Renaissance art. This wacky point-and-click adventure sees you bumbling through said paintings with Monty Python-esque animation, as you try to solve multi-layered puzzles and problems. It’s probably the funniest game you’ll ever play.
10. Overcooked + Overcooked 2
Overcooked and its sequel, Overcooked 2, are two of the best funny multiplayer games on Xbox One, and you can buy them as a bundle. Fast, frantic, and hilarious, both games offer couch co-op for up to four local players and are suitable for the whole family. Save The Onion Kingdom by journeying through various kitchens and cooking delicious dishes with your friends’ help. From kitchens sliding around on ships to ones flying between speeding cars and trucks, there’s plenty of coordination and cooperation on the cards — and a competitive mode, too, if you fancy challenging your friends. There are 75 levels across both games, with over 20 chefs to choose from.
11. The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
We’re finishing off our list with a classic. The Ultra Deluxe version of The Stanley Parable is a great way to experience the game for the first time. If you’ve played The Stanley Parable before, this expanded re-imagining of the 2013 game is packed with even more secrets, choices, and content than the original, and it’s been visually upgraded, too. Going into this game without knowing too much about the plot is best. All we’ll say is this: You don’t play the game; the game plays you!
