Grounded Jewels | How to Unlock preview

In Grounded, combat is the only tool you have to fight against the many bugs in the backyard. However, the bugs remain at the same level throughout the whole game. That means that if you want to take on more dangerous foes, you need to level up your weapons. By the end game, however, you’ll need more than just raw damage: You’ll need elemental attacks. And for that, you’ll need Jewels. How can you get your hands on some? Keep reading to learn more.

How to Unlock Jewels in Grounded

To unlock Jewels in Grounded, you must find the Stump BURG.L Chip in Stump Lab Outpost. The Stump BURG.L chip unlocks all the different Jewel varieties, including Mint, Salty, Spicy, Sour, and Mighty Jewels.

All in all, it’s not a terribly difficult task. The Stump Lab Outpost is located in the Upper Grasslands, and you’ll need to go through the stump to get inside. Once there, you can’t really miss the chip, which is located at the end of the outpost.

Once you have it, take it back to BURG.L at the Oak Tree Lab to unlock Advanced Smithing Techniques. This gives you access to the Mighty Jewel as well as the Flavored Jewels.

As for what they’re used for, that’s pretty straightforward. You’ll need to have a weapon that has the augment associated with the Jewel, or instead, one with no augment whatsoever. For example, you can only use the Mint Jewel when upgrading the Mint Mace.

These Jewels can only be used when upgrading your weapons from Level 7 to Level 8, then from Level 8 to Level 9. In other words, these are some pretty late-game weapon upgrades. When it comes to making these weapons, you’ll need Twinkling Shells as well as other items associated with the Jewel. For example, for the Mighty Jewel, you’ll need Supreme Whetstone. For the Mint Jewel, you’ll need Mint Shards.

Once you upgrade your weapons, you’ll be able to take on larger, more fearsome enemies. Only then will you be ready to solve the mystery of the miniature world in Dr. Tully’s Backyard.
